Obituary

Mona Marie Brice Anderson passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Argent Court.  She was born January 31, 1930, to William Felix Brice and Mary Douglas Fuller Brice, in Uvalde, Texas.  Mona was the third child and baby girl of the long-time Brice family in Uvalde County.

Mona met her loving husband David R Anderson, a WWII veteran who came to Uvalde to enroll in the new Southwest Texas Junior College under the GI bill, where Mona was also a student.  They married April 16, 1949, in Uvalde, TX, and continued their education at Sul Ross State College in Alpine, TX.  Mona was an elementary and special education teacher for many years, beginning in Schulenburg, TX in the 1950's and ending in Utopia, TX in 1986.  Mona and Dave moved to Pleasanton in 1998.  They were married 56 years before Dave's passing in 2005.

A lover of sewing, quilting, crocheting, drawing, painting, calligraphy, woodworking, gardening, and baking, Mona never met a craft that she probably didn't try at least once.  A master baker, she made wonderful cookies and pound cakes for family and friends all year long.  She also crafted many wood nativities and Christmas ornaments that are treasured by family and friends as well.  In addition, she was a member of the Flying L Ladies Golf Association in Bandera and the Pleasanton Country Club Ladies Golf Association in later years.   Mona was a beloved member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pleasanton.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, husband David R Anderson, brother James W Brice and wife Pauline, brother William C Brice and wife June, son-in-law John M Shearrer, and her protector and best boy, Rascal.

She is survived by daughter Mary Anderson Shearrer, son Mark W Anderson and wife Janet of Belton, grandsons Nathan M Anderson of Georgetown, Brian H Anderson and wife Vanessa of McKinney, and Scott G Shearrer and wife Jennifer of Pleasanton, great-grandchildren Taylor and wife Lyndsay of Hutto, Jodie of Corpus Christi, Barrett, Emmitt, Halen and Avery of McKinney, and great-great granddaughter Kinley Marie of Hutto.

Special thanks to Rose, Priscilla, Clara, Shirley, Raquel, Cynthia, Angie and Teresa who sat with Mona around the clock as her health declined and whom she loved and they loved her as well.  Special thanks also to the Argent Court caretakers who became her friends and whom she loved.
