In loving memory of Monica Rachel Valdez. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Monica's earthly journey began on February 18, 1967, in the serene town of Jourdanton, TX. She peacefully departed this world on May 26, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by love and family.

Monica's essence radiated warmth and compassion, so evident in her deep love for her spouse, and children. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own, touching all who had the privilege to know her. Within the tapestry of Monica's life, she found joy in the simple pleasures - sharing banter and cherished moments with her husband, engaging in the timeless tales of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, and wading in the peacefulness of fishing - as she could out catch them all. Her green thumb nurtured vibrant gardens, mirroring the unconditional love she showered upon her children. Monica's presence radiated love and generosity, embodying a spirit that was truly selfless, caring, and endlessly giving.

As we prepare to honor Monica's life with reverence and grace, we invite you to join us in celebrating her memory. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on June 6, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass in remembrance will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Leming on June 7, 2024, at 10:00 am. Followed by interment at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Monica's spirit will forever dance among the cherished memories she leaves behind, a testament to a life lived with unwavering love, kindness, and grace. In her legacy, may we find solace and inspiration, carrying forward the torch of her boundless compassion.

Monica was preceded in death by parents Juan Ramon Rodriguez, Maria Garcia Rodriguez; and her parent-in-laws Felix and Emilia Valdez. She is survived by her husband of 41 years Alex Valdez; children Jessica Ottinger, Emily Bermea (Samuel), Alyssa Garza (Jesus), Joshua Valdez (Anissa), Bianca Valdez (Shawn) and Benjamin Valdez (Savannah); brothers John Joe Rodriguez and John Rodrick Rodriguez; grandchildren Anthony, Edward, Kirrah, Samuel, Evelyn, Aubree, Nicolas, Camilla, Rosabelle, Amelia, LJ, Penelope, Josiah, Jonah and two more new grandbabies on the way.
