Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Martinez, beloved mother, wife, and cherished friend, who peacefully left this world on April 1, 2025, in her hometown of Poteet, Texas. Born on September 30, 1955, Norma was a devoted homemaker, known for her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to making everyone feel welcome and at home in her presence.

Norma was the heart and soul of her family, often described as their anchor. She was a true prayer warrior, always lifting her loved ones in prayer and ensuring that each family gathering was filled with joy and laughter. Her warmth was felt in every corner of her home, especially during the cherished moments spent together—whether it was playing BINGO, telling jokes, or enjoying weekly movie nights filled with popcorn, candy, and, inevitably, a few well-deserved naps.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ignacio Martinez; her dear mother, Olivia Martinez; daughters Annette, Brenda, Barbara and Kimberly Martinez; brothers Roger and Steven Martinez; sisters Helen Rodriguez, Hortencia Gonzales, Diana Martinez, Santa Guzman, Lupe Guerra and Sylvia Garcia; grandchildren Justin Griego, Caira Talamantez, Issac Martinez, Anthony Faz, Richard Guillemette, Nathan Guillemette, Arturo Nunez, Samantha Santillan, John Labauve, Avany and Azariel Pena, and Ashby Saenz; great-grandchildren Honesty, Diamond, and Skylar Griego, Eric and Timothy Gonzales, Star Talamantez, Erin, Ariel, Aliyah and Aubrey Gonzales, Samuel Gonzales, Nola Gonzales, Josie Gonzales and Santiago Guillemette;. and  numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

All services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 beginning with visitation from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and reciting of the rosary at 12:00 noon at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at St. Phillip Benizi Catholic church at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at San Pedro Cemetery.
