Oscar A. Escalera, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born on Sunday, June 29, 1952, in Poteet, Tx, to Juan and Florinda Alvarado Escalera.

He is preceded in death by his mother Florinda Alvarado; maternal grandparents, Antonio and Margarita Alvarado; niece, Valerie Escalera and nephew, Tommy Escalera.

Oscar is survived by his children, Lynette Escalera and Oscar Escalera Jr. He is also survived by his brother Juan Escalera and wife Johnni, along with his nieces and nephews, Johnny Joe Escalera and wife Dawn, John Escalera, and Krystal Escalera, as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Oscar spent many years on the road as a proud truck driver. He loved to travel and had a natural talent for mechanics, often fixing things with ease and skill. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and found peace outdoors. Though he carried a serious demeanor, those who knew him best saw his warm and humorous side, especially around children. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, who adored him dearly.

Oscar will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his quiet strength, and the love he held for his family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home and mass to follow at 11:30 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment at AGA family Cemetery.
