Obituary

Patsy Carol Meador Brownrigg, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. She was born February 23, 1938 in Victoria County Texas to O.T. "Trucky"  and Hazel Wright Meador. Trucky began working for Humble Oil Company and moved the family to Flour Bluff, Texas. She attended Flour Bluff Elementary School.  Eventually her father, who now was working for  Exxon (Humble) Oil Company, was  transferred again; this time to Jourdanton, Texas. Patsy attended Jourdanton Junior High and Jourdanton High School. While there, she was a cheerleader and met her lifelong friends, Joyce Winters Cope, and Angela Steinle Hairston. She was in the graduating class of 1956.

After graduation, Patsy became an X-ray technician.  She would later attend night school to obtain her RN degree. She worked at hospitals in El Paso, San Antonio and Jourdanton.  After years of working in the hospital, she chose to go into home health and served patients in Jourdanton and the surrounding areas. Patsy was born to be a nurse!  She had a kind heart, and a warm personality with a wonderful bedside manner. She loved her patients and gave them the best care possible to make them feel comfortable.

Patsy loved to travel, her favorite place to visit was Israel, which she visited twice. When she was a young girl her parents took her to Yosemite National Park. She also loved to attend the Renaissance festival in Magnolia, Texas.

She loved her Jourdanton community and enjoyed hosting people and groups at her home. She was an active member of the Garden Club and would host their luncheons and meetings. There were many times that she hosted her domino group, The 84 Ladies,  Katie, Gae, Rena, Martha, Carol and Marie, where there was laughter, camaraderie and many wonderful memories made. Traveling with her friends from Flour Bluff-Valarie, Jane, Bev, Deana, Carol and Betty was a highlight for her. They would travel to Llano, Jourdanton and Padre Island where they would stay weekends at each others homes. She had many close friends whom she cherished, loved, and valued their friendships, included in this group are Gracie, Lucy, Lina and Mary. Patsy loved her family, her friends, and being involved in her community.

Patsy is survived by her son, Jim (Sandra) Brownrigg;  her grandson, Blaine Brownrigg; granddaughter, Kelsey Brownrigg; her sister, Wanda (Bill) New; nephews, Tray (Nita) New; Kaid (Christianna) New; five great nephews; and three great nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents O.T. "Trucky" and Hazel Wright Meador.
