Paul Dan
Steffek
Aug 25, 1955 — Nov 8, 2024
Jourdanton
Paul Dan Steffek, 69, of Jourdanton, TX, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
Paul was born on August 25, 1955 to Marcus Sylvester Steffek and Lora Nell Steffek in Cuero, TX. After Paul graduated from Kennedy High School in 1973, he went on to a career in construction and became industrial technology teacher at Jourdanton ISD from 1995 until his retirement in 2021.
During his 13-year tenure as JISD golf coach, he was able to take the team and/or a medalist to the Regional tournament every year. He enjoyed playing the game any chance he could and did so, with his "golf buddies" multiple times a week.
He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and when he made trips to watch their games, he always had a "game-plan" on how to see as many games as possible, making it seem so easy.
If he was at his house, you could most likely find him in the backyard "piddling around in the shop," as he would say. He loved spending time working in his yard, mowing and watering the grass in order to maintain its perfect look all year around.
In 1975, Paul met Margaret Vyvlecka at a local dance in Poth, TX and married in Jourdanton, TX in 1978. Paul and Margaret went on to have two children, Britney and Cole.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Lora Nell. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Margaret (Vyvlecka) Steffek; daughter and son-in-law Britney and Brandon Sheffler; son and daughter-in-law Cole and Leigh Steffek; grandchildren Cayden, Charlotte, Colton, Paxton, Grey and Cannon; brother Leonard, sisters Pauline and Patricia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul's legacy of faith, love of family and community will live forever and be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. Visitation and services will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday, November 16 with visitation from 1:30 – 2:30pm, Rosary at 2:30pm, and Mass at 3pm. Burial services will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery after Mass with a reception to follow at St. Matthew Parish Hall.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Rutkowski, Jim Andrus, Keith Chapman, Donnie Blue, David Pesek and Wayne Schuchart, and honorary pallbearers, Theresa McAllister, Ed McClure, Donnie Payne, Keith Higginbotham.
