With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pedro Celestino Huizar, who departed this life peacefully at home on May 27, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on May 19, 1934, in Pleasanton, Texas, Pedro was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to his family and the land he cherished.
As a proud rancher, Pedro spent his days working diligently with his cattle, horses, and goats, driven by a profound love for the country lifestyle. His passion for farming extended to growing watermelons, hunting, and fishing. Known for his infectious laughter and playful spirit, he was a jokester at heart, bringing smiles to those around him through games of dominoes on warm evenings with friends and outings to the casino each month. He took immense pride in his family and cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren.
Pedro is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Huizar, who stood by his side through the years and shared countless memories. Children Mary Ann Martinez (Eliseo), Celestino Huizar Jr., Bruno Huizar, Alfred Huizar (Sally), Ernest Huizar, Dora Huizar, Dolores Huizar, Estella Camarillo (Joe), and Esperanza Ireland (Jason); sisters Maria Lurdes Hernandez (Dario), Juanita C. Huizar, Rita Prado (Esiquio), Consuelo Silva-Guerrero, and Esparanza Gonzalez (Amador); 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 5pm-7pm with the reciting of the rosary at 7pm at Hurley Funeral Home. Mass will be 10am Thursday, June 12, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with burial at the Huizar Family Cemetery.
Pedro was preceded in death by: parents Bruno and Mauricia Huizar; brother Victor C. Huizar; sisters Nora Moya and Corina Talamantez.
