Peggy Elizabeth Hooper passed away at her home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the age of 68. She was born in San Antonio on July 14, 1954, to Roy J. Jefferds, Jr. and Dorthy Cecilia Jefferds.

After High School, Peggy worked for Wayne Bull for 12 years before beginning her career with TxDOT, where she retired after 24 years. Peggy was also a proud member of the Osage Nation and her Native American heritage.

Peggy is survived by her husband, James Thomas Hooper, of Poteet; stepdaughter, Deborah Kay Torres, and husband Gilbert Hugh Torres of Beeville; grandsons, Dalton Hunter Torres and wife Sara Torres and their sons, Carson Hunter Torres and Oliver Reid Torres of Beeville, Dillon Ray Torres and wife Jenny Torres and their daughter, Motley Amor Torres of Beeville, and Dustin McCoy Torres of Lincoln, California; sisters, Patricia A. Walters and husband Byron Walters and their sons, Shawn House, Jeremy House and Michael House of San Antonio and Karen C. Jefferds and her son Kyle Robertson of Pleasanton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorthy Cecilia Jefferds and Roy J. Jefferds, Jr.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 24, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Hurley Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, starting at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.

The pallbearers are Dalton Torres, Dillon Torres, Dustin Torres, Kyle Robertson, Shawn House, Jeremy House and Michael House.
