Surrounded by her loving family, Petra Valdez, of Leming, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 95.  She was born in Waelder, Texas on June 29, 1929, to proud parents, Mariano and Francisca Valdez.

In her younger years Petra loved sewing, knitting, and gardening, and she enjoyed family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Petra is survived by her last brother, Robert Valdez, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Petra was preceded in death by her parents, Mariano and Francisca Valdez; brothers, Juan Valdez, Felix Valdez, Guadalupe (Wally) Valdez, Hilario Valdez, and Eusebio Valdez; and sisters, Asuncion Trevino and Selia Sorola.

Serving as pallbearers for Petra's service are Alex Valdez, Marcus Valdez, David Valdez, Victor Valdez, Valdemar Valdez, Donald Valdez, Oscar Valdez, Richard Valdez, Herman Valdez, Henry Valdez, Jeremy Valdez, and Ramiro Trevino.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, at 11:00 am with interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
