It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Gayle McLean, a beloved mother, cherished friend, and dedicated grandmother. Born on January 10, 1948, in San Antonio, TX, Phyllis departed this world on February 22, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. She was a woman of great character and a pillar of strength to all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Phyllis found joy in both simple pleasures and meaningful personal connections. She had a penchant for playing BINGO, testing her luck at the casino, visiting family in Oklahoma, and spending time at Rockport and Port Aransas. Her devotion to her family was evident in her presence at family gatherings for birthdays/holidays, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and sharing her granddaughter's love of animals. Phyllis graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio as Phyllis Johns. She worked many different jobs over the years, but her favorite jobs were working at Southwest Power Fence and working with Jackie Bodden, Justice of the Peace Pct 4 Atascosa County Texas.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by her partner of 14 years, Delbert West, who lovingly took care of all of her needs; daughter Laura Gonzalez and her husband John; son Randy Gastinger and his wife April; sister Nickie Rizzo and her husband Jimmy; 5 grandchildren Andrew Gonzalez, Noah Gonzalez, Marissa Gonzalez-Mason and her husband Kevin, Logan Gastinger, and LeighAnn Gastinger; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother and father, Gertrude Barbato Johns and C.J. 'John' Johns. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering support will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
