RC Newman of Rossville passed away June 29, 2023, at the age of 86.  He was born in Rossville on December 21, 1936, to Clinton and Audrey (Davis) Newman.

RC Newman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who was beloved by all who met him. Also often known as the mountain man of Rossville. He graduated from Poteet High School, then proceeded to become an aircraft mechanic in the United States Airforce. He passed away at his ranch in Rossville, Texas, where he enjoyed raising longhorn cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Audrey Newman; first wife, Mathilda Rose Locke; second wife, Anita Harper; son, RC Newman, Jr. and brother, Wayne Newman.

RC is survived by his loving daughter, Veronica Newman; grandchildren, Teresa Chamberlain, Nicole Barros and husband Alex, and Brandi Lee Newman; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Chamberlain, Wyatt Chamberlain, and Baby Barros on the way.  He is also survived by his brother, Preston Newman.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, starting with a visitation at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be at Anchorage Cemetery.
