Raul Roy Escamilla was born on July 1, 1961, in Pleasanton and peacefully went to rest with the Lord on May 22, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was cherished by his son, Joe Roy Escamilla; his daughter, Alyza Escamilla; and his siblings, Johnny Joe Escamilla and Linda Mares.

Raul was the beloved son of Juan Escamilla and Susie Escamilla. He grew up in Poteet, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and the outdoors. Raul dedicated nearly 30 years of service working for the City of Pleasanton. He also enjoyed working on ranches and took great pride in being a skilled backhoe operator.

In his free time, Raul loved fishing with his children and spending time with those he loved most. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and deep love for his family.

Raul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gonzalo and Florencia Escamilla; his maternal grandparents, Martin and Valentina Martinez; his parents, Juan and Susie Escamilla; his sister, Marie Ann Escamilla Garcia; and his niece, Betty Jane Mares.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyza Escamilla; his son, Joe Roy Escamilla; his sister, Linda Mares; his brother, Johnny Joe Escamilla; and Barbara Escamilla, as well as many cousins, tíos, tías, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at San Pedro Cemetery in Poteet, starting at 11:00 am.
