Richard Lee Oberlender III, of Poteet, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in San Antonio at the age of 72. Richard was born December 18, 1950, to Richard & Rosella (Clark) Oberlender. He leaves behind the love of his life for the last twelve years, Katherine Daniel.

Richard served our country in the US Air Force as a Jet Engine Technician or Mechanic. His biggest enjoyment was operating and running a shrimp boat. It was a big part of his family and childhood. Richard loved going to casinos, hunting, fishing, feeding his animals, and working on cars. Most of all, he loved family gatherings, riding his motorcycle and being a dad and grandpa.

He is preceded by his parents Richard & Rosella (Clark) Oberlender, brothers, Robert and Andy Oberlender and sister, Frances Oberlender.

Richard is survived by Katherine Daniel, children; Rick Armstrong, Ravana Champ, Mike Oberlender, David Oberlender, and Cecil Daniel III and wife Jodi; grandchildren, Tyler and Tristen Armstrong, Leslie Bolton, and Rhett and Molly June Daniel; sisters, Rose Butler, Marilyn (Buddy) Turner, Kay Oberlender (Danny), Rebecca Oberlender and Mary (Bob) Scott and other numerous relatives.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11 AM at Texas State Veterans Cemeteries AKA Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 9974 1-37 Access Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
