In Loving Memory of Rick Tiofilo Flores Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rick T. Flores Sr., a cherished member of our community, on June 9, 2024. Rick T. Flores Sr., born on November 20, 1969, in Martinez, California, was a devoted family man, passionate Catholic, volunteer firefighter, city councilman, and community advocate who dedicated his life to the service and betterment of others.
Rick grew up in Mission, TX, where he developed a strong sense of duty and compassion. Rick pursued a career in Mining & Safety for 21 years, but his true passion was always serving his community. As a Poteet volunteer firefighter for 15 years, he bravely responded to countless emergencies, always putting the safety and well-being of others first. He also served as President and Assistant Fire Chief for the Poteet Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his volunteer work as a firefighter, Rick served as a respected Poteet city councilman for 6 years. His leadership, vision, and dedication to public service were instrumental in many community projects and initiatives. Rick was known for his integrity, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to making Poteet, TX, a better place for all its residents.
Beyond his official roles, Rick was a beloved figure in the community, always willing to lend a helping hand. He volunteered with numerous local organizations, medic/trainer for the Brush Country Rattlers, and was a mentor to many. His kindness, generosity, enthusiasm, and infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone he met.
Rick T. Flores Sr. is preceded in death by his Father Octavio Flores, Mother Maria Elena Mendoza, Step Father Dolores Mendoza, Brother In Law Albert Salinas, Sister In Law Juliana Guzman, Mother In Law Janie P. Guzman, & Father In Law Julian Jimenez Jr.
Rick T. Flores Sr., is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Flores with whom he was happily married for 29 years, his children, Rian Jon Flores, Rick Flores Jr., and wife Heather Flores, Victoria Ashley Flores; Sisters; Sandy Anne Salinas, Frances Eliza Mendoza, and Husband Javier Barajas; Brother; Dolores "Lalo" Mendoza; Brother In Law Jonathan Guzman and Wife Betty Guzman, Brother In Law Benjamin Munoz; Grandchildren; Rhakeem Jeremiah Johnson, Alaysia Elle-Renee Marion; God daughters: Brianna Cortez, Kierra Lynn Ambriz, Brianna Nicole Guzman: Godsons: Jae Balderaz, Jonathan Guzman Jr., Joenathan Guzman, Jaxson Joseph Guzman: numerous nephews, great nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was a devoted husband, father, son, mentor, and friend who will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Services will start with procession at 8:40 am, Visitation from 9 am to 12 pm, Rosary at 12 pm, Mass at 12:30 pm, and Reception will follow at the church hall for family and friends.
Rick's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the positive impact he made on our community. He will always be remembered for his courage, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others.
Rest in peace, Rick T. Flores Sr. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
