Rick L. Mutz Jr., a hardworking and outgoing man, peacefully passed away at the age of 73 on September 27, 2024, in Jourdanton, Texas. Born in El Paso, Texas, on January 11, 1951.

Rick dedicated his career to owning Atascosa Dry Wall for 25 years before retiring to pursue his love for ranching, cattle, and outdoor activities like hunting and fishing.

Rick, known for his strong work ethic and love for the outdoors, particularly enjoyed caring for his cattle on the ranch. His true passion for the ranch life was evident in his dedication to his work and the joy he found in spending time in nature.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Susan Mutz, who stood by his side through their shared adventures and life's journey. Brothers Bob Mutz and his wife Nancy, and Randy Mutz; brother-in-law and sister in-laws David Ernst, Tommy and Debra Smith, and Mike and Ruthie Timberlake; nephews Rob Mutz Jr and his wife Shelly, Ron Mutz and his wife Daniel, and Chris Smith; niece Tiffany Halsell as well all other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Rick's warmth and affection towards those he cared about will always be remembered by those who knew him best

Rick is preceded in death by parent Emerick Lee Mutz, Sr. and Gladys Maie Skrobarczyk Mutz; son Jason Wayne Herring, sister Donna and her husband Mike Holder, sister Jackie Ernst, brother Larry Mutz, sister Sharon Mutz, and sister -in-law Jackie Mutz.

In honor of Rick's life and memory, a visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 both at Hurley Funeral Home. Rick's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones, as they cherish the moments shared with him during his time on earth.
