Ruben M. Alaniz

July 7, 1945 – December 19, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruben M. Alaniz, who was deeply loved as a husband, father, and grandfather. His life was defined by devotion to his family, perseverance, and an unmatched work ethic.

On February 29, 1963, Ruben married the love of his life, Evelia, with whom he shared 62 years building a strong and loving family that remained the center of his world.

He was the proud father of five children, two sons and three daughters, whom he loved deeply and worked tirelessly to provide for. A truck driver for over 50 years, Ruben took great pride in his profession and was the proud owner of Coyote Trucking, a business that reflected his strong work ethic, grit and dedication.

Above all else, Ruben cherished time with his family. He had a special love for his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and laughter. Whether gathered around telling stories, sharing great food, or enjoying a shot of whiskey, being surrounded by family was where he was happiest.

Ruben will be remembered for his deep love and dedication to his family, his generous heart, and his one of a kind personality. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelia; sons, Paul Alaniz (Melinda) and Daniel Alaniz (Laura); daughters, Debbie Alaniz (Rick), Monica Alaniz (Albert), and Becky Vargas (Edward); brothers, Matilde Alaniz (Lucia) and Alfredo Alaniz; grandchildren, Leticia Diaz, David Romero, Danielle Jones, Justin Alaniz, Jessica Alaniz, Benjamin Alaniz, Diego Rivera, Sofia Rivera, Gabriel Vargas, and Ava Alaniz; and seven great-grandchildren.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Luciano and Matilde Alaniz; daughter, Rebecca Alaniz; brothers, Geraldo Alaniz, Ubaldo Alaniz, Juan Alaniz, Ramiro Alaniz, Luis Alaniz, Adolfo Alaniz, and Tomas Alaniz; and sisters, Maria Espinosa, Lydia Garcia, and Lilly Ugalde.

Though our hearts grieve, our faith assures us that his life continues in God's eternal embrace.

Services are scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation at 6:00 pm, a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at 7:30 pm.  Services will conclude at the funeral home.
