San Jose Quintanilla passed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the age of 85 surrounded by family and cherished friends, Janie Garza, her sister, RoseMary and Frank Arrazola. He was born in Tilden, Texas on September 18, 1939, to Ignacio Silva Quintanilla Sr. and Jacinta (Segura) Quintanilla.

San Jose and his brother enlisted together in the USAF on the 14th of June 1961. After three months of basic training, they were separated. San Jose was sent to the AirForce Globemaster Aircraft loading training and assigned to Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, then later assigned to Wheelus AFB, Tripoli, Libya. After his tour in North Africa he was stationed at Roswell AFB, New Mexico.

After his military service he married Rachel Lopez from San Antonio and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. He went to work for Doehler National Lead Company for years making auto parts, repairing their metal dies and doing a machinist job that he enjoyed very much. He later moved back to Tilden where he was well-liked, kind, and always chatting and telling stories with people while working at the Exxon Service Station.

He loved life and showed it through his passion for dancing, especially to Tejano, Conjunto, and Country music. He often spent time at Ruby's Lounge in Los Angeles, Texas, enjoying good times with friends and family.

San Jose was preceded in death by his parents Ignacio and Jacinta Quintanilla.

He is survived by his son, Roland Quintanilla and wife Cindy of San Antonio; brother, Ignacio Quintanilla, Jr. and nephew, Ricardo Quintanilla, both of Corpus Christi.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm.  Services will conclude at the funeral home.
