Shannon Ashley
Martinez
Jun 21, 1985 — Mar 19, 2023
San Antonio
It is with great love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shannon Ashley (Kosub) Martinez (37). She passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in San Antonio, Tx. Shannon was born on Friday, June 21, 1985, to Mary Ann (LaFargue) Reed.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." Isaiah 43:2
In remembering Shannon, this verse comes to mind because in the physical she loved being outdoors; going to parks or the shore house. In character and temperament, she walked among us with compassion for others, in resiliency and humble fortitude. Through her actions she taught those around her great strength and how to forgive the lowliest of low. Shannon was never at a loss for praise in her words, as she openly gave acknowledgment of appreciation to loved ones she held near and dear.
At the center of Shannon's life was her family and friends. Her Mother, Mary, whom she would often call upon to go out to lunch or ask for advice; Her sister Rachael, with whom she shared laughter and quick wit; Her Father Ray, who anchored her in his steadfastness; and the multitudes of people she embraced with love and considered her good friends. She kept all by her side. But her greatest joy, the core of her being was her little girl Bailey; the light of her soul. Bailey gave Shannon purpose and pride in one of the noblest jobs she had ever been given - being a Mom. And a good Mom she was. Inseparable, Shannon captured the bond and the essence of who they were together as Mother and child in photos while shopping, going to Bailey's sporting or school events, or just simply hanging out laughing enjoying each other.
Shannon will be missed; our daughter, sister and friend. But we will hold her memory in the treasury of love and the light-hearted spirit she gave us through her actions and in her words, and in the knowing that she and Bailey will forever be together through God's Grace. May Her Memory be Eternal.
She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Bailey Martinez; aunt, Janis Liberda; uncle, Christopher LaFargue; and grandfather, Melvin LaFargue, aka Papa.
Shannon is survived by her parents, Daylon Ray Reed, Jr. and Mary Ann Reed; sister, Rachael Reed; maternal grandmother, Evelyn LaFargue; paternal grandparents, Bonnie Voelkel (Orville); great-granny, Ernestine Teel; uncles, Michael Reed (Jennifer Oliver), Vernon Kosub, Mike LaFargue; Robert "Bob" Bratten (Kathy); aunts, Robin Kosub, Diane Amberson (Jimbo); God mother, Lisa Roggenbuck Morrash and numerous cousins and extended family and friends.
