Surene Rogers Halpin passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 80.  She was born on August 28, 1944, in Poteet, Texas to Cleo and Bessie Rogers.

She is survived by her husband Roy Halpin; her daughter Holly Brite (Lee), grandchildren Matt Mickaels (Karah), Jake Mickaels (Cyan), Benjamin Baker and Samuel Brite; great grandchildren Sloane Mickaels and Maverick Mickaels.  She is preceded in death by her daughter Cindy Halpin Mumm.

Surene (Sudie as most people knew her) eloped on her last day of high school to marry Roy (Corky).  She returned to Poteet, Texas, a few days later to graduate from Poteet High School as a married woman.  Shortly after, Sudie began married life in Kingsville, Texas, working at the Kleberg Bank.  Many other moves and adventures to other states occurred for the next few years, but she eventually settled in Pleasanton, Texas in 1972 with Corky and their two girls.  She loved being a full-time wife and Mom for many years.  When describing his life with Sudie, Corky told people he hit the "Wife Lotto" in 1962.

Surene enjoyed time with her family, her church and her many friends.  She enjoyed all sports whether as a participant or a fan, and she truly loved watching her kids and grandkids excel in life.  No matter what award or accolade her kids or grandkids would receive, she wanted a front row seat to see it all.  She was extremely proud of her marriage of 63 years and the journeys she had all along the way.  She never wanted to miss a moment up until the very end.  She will be missed as an amazing wife, the best Mom, and wonderful Mimi to so many.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025 starting at 10:00 am at Rutledge Cemetery, located at 1735 Rutledge Road, Poteet.
