Obituary

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sylvia Ann Escobar Rosales, also known as "Yaya" and "Mama Bear". Sylvia left this world on January 5, 2024.  Born on February 4, 1962, she is preceded in death by her parents Don and Adela Escobar, her brother Zeke Escobar, her son Jesse Rosales III, and her niece Star Lynn Coronado.

She is survived by her life partner "Papa Bear" Jesse Rosales, Jr; son James and wife Esther Rosales; daughter Claudia Rosales Soto and husband Gibby Soto; and 8 grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Survived by her siblings Danny and wife Virginia Escobar, Joe and wife Irene Escobar, Lee and wife Bessie Escobar, Rebecca Escobar and husband Peter Perez, Melissa and husband Daniel Torres Jr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon James Rosales, Justin Jesus Rosales, Jeremy Coronado, Jacob Escobar, Daniel Torres, Daymond Decker, and Gibby Soto

Sylvia's love for her grandchildren and family along with her deep-rooted faith made her a mother figure for anyone in need of nurturing, comfort, and guidance. She had a humorous side as evidenced by her ability to joke and see the brighter side of any situation. Sylvia's hobbies include collecting and bartering antique collectibles emphasizing dishes. Sylvia enjoyed playing cards, board games, Yahtzee, and Mexican Bingo with her family as well as nurturing her plants.  She was amazing at baking and cooking, especially her Big Red cake which the family loved. Most importantly spending time with her family and grandchildren.

As we bid farewell to Yaya, we hold onto the laughter, wisdom, love, and countless memories she shared or made with us all. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts and she will be forever missed.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Sylvia's life. Viewing services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Texas, on January 11, 2024.  Visitation starting at 9 am to 11 am followed by Rosary at 11 am and Services at 11:30 am. The funeral Services will be followed by interment at Jourdanton City Cemetery.
