Teodulo Gutierrez
Reyes
Feb 17, 1921 — Mar 7, 2026
Poteet
Teodulo Gutierrez Reyes, of Poteet, passed away on March 7, 2026 at the age of 105 years old. He was born in Roma, Texas on February 17, 1921 to Juan Lopez Reyes and Martina Gutierrez de Reyes.
During his younger years, Teodulo served his country as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a man of simple pleasures. He loved to dance and could often be found on the dance floor, where the joy of the music brought him great happiness. One of his most endearing qualities was his ability to give warm hugs that made everyone feel special, and his generous spirit touched the lives of many.
His heart, however, belonged to his family. He cherished every moment spent with them. Teodulo often spoke fondly of the times spent on his ranch in Poteet, where he lovingly tended to his cows. There, surrounded by nature, he found peace and joy.
Teodulo's mind remained sharp until the very end, with his remarkable ability to recall stories from over a hundred years ago, delighting everyone around him. He loved sharing tales from his youth, capturing the laughter and lessons of a life well-lived.
Teodulo was preceded in death by his parents, Martina and Juan; siblings, Corrina, Dominga, Maria, Petra, Juan, Felipe, Domingo and Jose; his daughter, Lydia Campos; and his grandchildren, Joe Richard Rodriguez and Cynthia Campos Palacios.
He is survived by his children, Luisa Rodriguez, Reynaldo Reyes, Deanna Nunez and Rojerio Reyes; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great-great grandchildren. Teodulo is also survived by his sister, Magdalena Reyes Campoy.
He was beloved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
