Teresa Kay
Remington
Jul 31, 1941 — Jun 30, 2026
San Antonio
Teresa Kay Remington (nee Peck) the daughter of Harold and N. Mildred Peck (nee Haynes), who was born on July 31st, 1941, Peoria, Illinois, left this life to begin her next adventure on June 30, 2026, age 84. Teresa was married July 8, 1961, to her everlasting partner through every joy and tragedy that life threw at them, William J. Remington of Peoria.
A proud graduate of Woodruff High School, Peoria, Illinois, Class of 1959. Terry, as she was known, attended almost every class reunion, even while she lived for decades in Riverview, Florida, always happy to be with her classmates and friends!
Teresa was a fierce card and board game competitor, as attested by her entire family, especially her grandchildren who spent the best summers of their lives playing UNO and other games with Grandma. Teresa had a fierce rivalry with her son, Bobby John, over the board game Trouble, where her ability to roll sixes in a pinch was uncanny. She also brought her incredibly good luck to Bingo every chance she got, and children Bobby and Shelly loved to accompany her to the Bingo Halls throughout their lives. Finally, Terry, like her father who was a professional gambler, was a skilled poker player, and playing quite successfully in poker tournaments was a favorite pastime in her retirement.
Teresa was a beloved mother who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was an extraordinary baker, and her legendary lemon bars, lemon meringue pie, fudge, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were eagerly awaited in the mail every Christmas. She was also a go-getter who ran for and won a school board seat when she felt her children's school needed improvements. She was a longtime supporter of the wonderful organization, Compassionate Friends, even chairing the Tampa, Florida conference one year. She became a deputy sheriff crossing guard for her youngest daughter's school for several years and was popular figure with all of the children. And finally, Teresa worked throughout her life as a telephone operator and retired from General Telephone in Tampa, Florida to go enjoy casinos across the country.
Teresa had four children, two of whom predeceased her, Jennifer Lynn Remington, and Benjamin Joseph Remington. She was also predeceased by her grandsons, Michael A. Beauford and Rafael A. Fernandes.
She was a lifelong animal lover, with many animals bringing joy throughout her life, especially Poochie, and the dedicated companions of her final years, Scooter and Mama Kitty.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William J. Remington, and her children, Robert Remington and Michelle Ivery. William and Robert dedicated their lives to caring for her during the final years of her life when she was confined completely to bed. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Thomas (Charo King) Mitchell, Jennifer (Justin Hoffman) Crockett, Breanna (Glenn) Jones, Benjamin Ivery, and Elizabeth Ivery, plus great-grandchildren Isaiah Torry, Aliyah Beauford, Reign Cruz, Grayson Cruz, Arrow Mitchell, L. America Mitchell, Solace Mitchell, Ryker Jones, Arya Jones, and Archer Jones.
We take heart in our belief that our beloved Grandma and Mom is now joyfully reunited with her parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren in the great hereafter. We will see her again.
