Thomas Harrod Appling of Tilden passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 88.  He was born in Orange Grove to Marvin Ruben Appling and Francis Louise (Harrod) Appling.

A proud retiree from Iron Workers Local 66, Thomas was a hard worker who always knew how to provide for his loved ones. He had a love for fishing and hunting, often spending his weekends outdoors. When he wasn't fishing or hunting, you could usually find him behind the grill, barbecuing some of his favorite meals, surrounded by friends and family. Thomas was also an avid news watcher, always staying informed and ready for a hearty discussion. He was known and will be remembered for his good-hearted spirit and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Cheryl Appling; daughters, Vickie Filden (Travis) and Karen Evans (Melvin); son, Thomas Ace Appling (Mary); 9 grandchildren; 17 great-granchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Carey Appling, Donald Appling and Marvin Appling.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025, at Hilltop Cemetery in Tilden, starting at 2:00 pm.
