In Loving Memory of Tim Arthur Brown Sr.

Born on February 16, 1931, in the heart of Texas, Tim Arthur Brown Sr., a hardworking and resilient man, peacefully passed away on January 6, 2024, in his home in San Antonio. He was 92 years old.

Tim, the youngest of nine children and the only boy grew up with humble beginnings, learning the value of hard work from an early age. After the loss of the family farm following his father's passing, the Brown family relocated to Corpus Christi, where Tim spent his formative years in the vibrant neighborhood of North Beach. At the youthful age of 17, Tim answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the Army on May 18, 1948. He dedicated four honorable years as a Military Police Officer Sergeant until his honorable discharge on March 21, 1952. Tim's unwavering commitment to serving others was evident throughout his life.

Finding his true companion in Dorris Gholson, Tim married her in 1954.  They had 5 children together before beginning a remarkable journey that would span 13 years. They finally divorced in 1967 and he soon remarried to Nellie Ruth Chancey. He acquired 3 more children in this marriage, which he held as his own he embraced a career as a truck driver, Tim and his family traversed the country, seeking new opportunities and adventures until settling to live in Corpus Christi. Throughout his career, he worked tirelessly for the United States Postal, ensuring the seamless transportation of goods and mail across the nation. Tim's passion extended beyond the road. Deeply caring for the well-being of others, he established the West Side Boxing Club, later renamed the All-American Boxing Club in Corpus Christi. Tim poured his heart and soul into this venture, actively recruiting young men in need of guidance and mentorship. Many of these promising individuals went on to become police officers, including his very own son. Tim had an innate ability to instill the importance of hard work and perseverance, using boxing as a catalyst for personal growth, strength, and resilience.

After several years of dedicated service, Tim retired from truck driving following his second knee replacement surgery. With the newfound time, he embraced his artistic side, excelling in the medium of pastels and pencils. His creations beautifully captured the essence of his surroundings until his eyesight began to fail him. Despite this setback, Tim's creativity remained a testament to his passion for life and his unwavering spirit.

Tim will be remembered as a devoted father who loved his children deeply. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, instilling in them the values of hard work and determination. A smooth talker and an exceptional dancer, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, enjoying cigars and beer among his cherished pastimes. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. His memory will forever reside in the hearts of his loved ones, who will remember him as a dedicated provider, an influential mentor, and a man who embraced life to the fullest.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Myrtle Brown; sons, Monty Cliff Brown and Gaudy "Buck" Cox; grandchildren, Julie, Michael David Brown, and Jennifer Nicole Brown.

He is survived by sons, Tim Brown Jr, William Kent (Nidia), and Russel Charles Brown; daughters, Pandora Neill Stubbs (James), Lola McLaughlin, Sharon Bueno (Tony), and Monesa Thomas (Matt); 1st wife, Doris Gholson; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00p.m. on February 10, 2024 at Brite Cemetery.
