Tom Escalera was born on November 23, 1981, in Jourdanton, to Juan and Frances Escalera. He passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024,  where he will be reunited with his sister, Valerie Ann Escalera and our heavenly baby.

He resided in Poteet, where he is survived by his wife, Rosemary H. Escalera and their fur babies, Bailey, Princess and Esmie. He is also survived by his brother, Johnny Joe Escalera and wife, Dawn Escalera; nephews, Nikolas John Escalera and fiancé, Kyra Pacheco and Jakob Matthew Escalera; half-brother, John Escalera; half-sister, Krystal Ann Escalera; nephew, Jordan Escalera; nieces and nephews in marriage, Stevie Ray and wife, Natalie De La Garza, Jesse James and fiancé, Cynthia Hernandez, Brandon Lee Herrera, Kandis Jimenez and husband, Justin Jimenez; sister-in-law, Irma Linda Herrera; brother-in-law, Nick Herrera; paternal grandmother, Florinda Alvarado; goddaughter, Aria Denae Guzman; four beautiful great-nieces and great-nephews; along with numerous aunts, uncles and other family and friends.

Tom loved and was loved by so many of his cousins, friends and extended family. He was very dedicated and hard working and he loved being a coal miner.  Tom will forever be in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Services for Tom are scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm.  Mass will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Madre Dolorosa #2.
