It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of retired sheriff Tommy Williams of Atascosa County.  This amazing man has spent his life serving his country and community.  With his time in the Army (1957-1963) to his 40 years (1973-2012) as the Sheriff.  He is now at peace and joining his beloved wife, Sandra.

He leaves behind his daughter, Amber Carter and wife Calli; granddaughter, Paige Merryman; grandson, John Merryman; cousins, Darrell Hickey and wife Sandy; and bonus daughters, Dicki Lee Poppell-Sparks and Minda Hyde.

To know my father's love.

The person who gave me the gift of life will never go unsurpassed.  He is the pedestal on which I stand.  The greatest gift that has been given to me is the gift in who he is.  The love that will live with you till the end of time is given by he.  The selflessness and contributions are never ending.  This person only lived to love and protect you forever.  The warm and gentle hugs are a blessing from heaven.  Strength.  Character.  Understanding.  Forgiveness.  Heart.  These are the attributes in which he possesses.  A person that gives us all there is to give and more.  This is the power of love.  This is my father.  The gift that God gave me is to know my father's love.  The greatest gift anyone can give me is to say you are just like your father.  I can only hope and pray that I will be, until then.  I have the greatest gift and that is my father and to know my father's love, which is the greatest gift of all.

A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, 2023, starting at 10:00 am at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Jake Guerra, Matt Miller, Terry Cooper, Craig Johnson, Wayne Stratton, Albert Garza, Norma Jordan and Martin Gonzales.  Honorary Pallbearers will be David Soward and Weldon Cude.
