Valdemar (Blackie) G. Benitez Jr. age 77, of Pleasanton, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2025.  Valdemar was born in Pleasanton, Texas on June 9, 1947, to Valdemar G. Benitez Sr. and Estella Gonzales Benitez.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; grandson, Joshua Aguero; great-grandson, Ethan Aguero.

Blackie is survived by his wife, Elia Benitez and daughters, Lisa Garcia (Rudy), Sonya Tijerina (Ray), and Jamie Marvin (David); grandchildren, Jacob Aguero (Cidney), Marina Tijerina (Frankie), Raelyn Sorola (Mikey), Regina Tijerina (Isaac), Arnold Ray Tijerina Jr, Matthew Brady Jr, Aiden Marvin, and David Marvin Jr; great-grandchildren, Dominic Aguero, Zaiden Aguero, Sophia Aguero, Eli Sorola, and Ian Sorola, and Oliver Sanchez; and adopted sister, Billie Barrios.

Blackie attended Pleasanton High School class of 1965 thereafter he enlisted in the United States Air Force for 3 years.  Soon after he worked for the United States Postal Service where he served the Pleasanton community for 40 years. After retirement he would make his rounds to all the local restaurants and visit with his friends daily. Blackie spent his early days as an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and had enjoyment in collecting rifles.  In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering at San Ysidro and Leal cemeteries. You could always find him at the local baseball and soccer games supporting the grandkids. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. Blackie left a lasting impression on anyone he encountered, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Services are scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with a visitation from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.  Services will conclude at the end of services.
