Vena Maurene Day passed away at her home on May 9, 2023, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 11, 1944 loved piano, gospel music and was a member of the Baptist church.  In her free time, she enjoyed dancing with her line dancing club.  Vena was a long-time civil service employee, but also worked in retail management and as an insurance consultant.  She never met a stranger!

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Karath and Mary Nae Johnson Karath; and beloved grandmothers, Rosa Speaks Johnson.

Vena is survived by her daughter, Lori Butler (Chad Kahler); son, Matthew Scott Butler (Mayra Elizabeth Butler); sister, Mary Earlene Thorne (Jim); niece, Traci Thorne Blalock (Travis Blalock); nephew, Stephen Thorne (Tracy Thorne); along with numerous extended family who were loved like they were her own.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Pleasanton County Club in Lew's banquet room, starting at 12:00 pm.
