Victor Manuel
Duran
Nov 14, 1957 — Jun 12, 2023
Charlotte
Victor Manuel Duran, who was also known as "Cacho and papo" to some, passed away on June 12, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born in Mexico on November 14, 1957, to Manuel Duran Salinas and Maria Elena (Reyes) Duran.
Victor was the town handyman. He fixed anything he could get his hands on, or anything anyone needed help with, but he loved working on AC units. Those who knew Victor would say he was kind, humble and had a servant's spirit. He was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he was a choir member and of course if something needed fixing…
For 25 years, Victor was a ranch hand for the Roy Hindes family, before he started at Charlotte ISD, where he worked for 20 years. He loved his job driving the kids everywhere, especially on band trips. Victor loved music. He could play the guitar, accordion, drums, keyboard and somewhat taught himself how to play the trumpet. If he wasn't playing an instrument or singing, you could find Victor and his wife Maria on the dance floor. They were the first on and last off.
Victor was a faith filled man of few words with a huge heart, who was always happy, joyful and like to joke around and make others laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Victor is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria Duran; mother-in-law, Maria Concepcion Dominguez Lopez; daughters, Olga Nelly Sanchez-Duran (Jesus Sanchez), Cristela Duran and Marilie Duran (Jordan Leigh Ruiz); son, Victor Duran, Jr. (Faviola Martinez); brothers, Jaime Luis Duran (Guadalupe), Javier Mateo Duran (Minerva), and Leopoldo Duran (Dora Elia); sisters, Victoriana Sanchez (Amador), Rosa Maria Mata (Jose), Maria De Carmen Lerma (Ciriaco) and Guillermina Lopez (Juan); grandchildren, Manuel Guadalupe Duran Martinez; Levi Zipprian; Viviana Monse Duran; Victor Manuel Duran III, Valentina Mari-Elena Duran, and Erin Ramos-Luna; great-granddaughter, Andrea Marie Duran; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria Duran; father-in-law, Guadalupe Martinez Lopez; sisters, Olga Salazar and husband Juan Salazar, and Cristela Duran; brother, Juan Jose Duran Reyes; uncles, Ignacio Duran Salinas, Armando Duran Salinas and Vicente Reyes; and brother-in-law, Conrado Martinez.
Services for Victor are scheduled for Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, starting with a visitation from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church starting at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Charlotte Community Cemetery.
