Violet Katherine Griffin, 88, passed away on July 19, 2023, peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 22, 1934, in San Antonio, to John Sahm and Margaret Arnold Sahm.
Violet worked for Southwestern Bell in her younger years and worked for Jourdanton State Bank in her later years. She married Charles M. Griffin on July 25, 1952, and together they built a life and family for 65 years until his passing in 2018. Violet was a loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching sports, especially the Spurs and the Cowboys. She loved BINGO, trying her luck on the slot machines and watching game shows on tv. She was an active member of the Poteet Rotary Club and helped with the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association alongside her husband. She had a heart for service and for the community.
Violet is preceded in death by her parents John Sahm and Margaret Arnold Sahm; husband of 65 years Charles M. Griffin; daughter Margaret Ann Urban; brother William A. Sahm and son-in-law Mark LeSage; and brothers-in-law Bobby Griffin and Steve Jenkins. She is survived by her children Charles M. Griffin, Jr. and wife Violanda; Carol June LeSage; and Terri Hoffman and husband Larry; son-in-law Steve Urban; sisters-in-law Hattie Sahm and Nita Harvey and her husband George; brother-in-law Philip Jenkins; grandchildren Charlene Herrera and husband James, Cynthia Regan and husband Jason, Stephanie Lopez and husband Joseph, and Jacob Griffin and wife Adriana; great-grandchildren Brice Hoffman, Giavana Herrera, Dominic Herrera, Sydney Regan, Gabriella Regan, Trinity Regan, Jayden Regan, Steven Lopez, Mason Lopez, Nicholas Lopez, Sylar Griffin, and Zoey Griffin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. 118 W. Oaklawn Rd. Pleasanton, Texas 78064
