Virginia Gage passed away at her home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 63. She was born on November 22, 1962, in Decatur, Indiana to Carmen Rios Mauricio and Lillian (Giddens) Mauricio.
Virginia lived her life to the fullest, always ready for the next adventure and making countless wonderful memories along the way. She was a strong, caring soul who dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving mother to her children and a proud grandmother who adored her grandkids. There was nothing that brought her more joy than spending time with them, and she always thought the world of them. Her fierce love for her family shone bright, and she lovingly cared for her own mother until her passing, exemplifying the depth of her compassion.
As a successful businesswoman and owner of G&M Construction, Virginia worked tirelessly to achieve her dreams and pave the way for others. Her competitive spirit fueled her ambition, and her accomplishments were a testament to her hard work and determination. Virginia's love for travel and adventure led her to explore new places, and she embraced every opportunity to experience life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Gage Michael VanDewark; brothers, Arthur Mauricio and Albert Mauricio; and sister Catherine Mauricio.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Moises Martinez, daughter, Meagan VanDewark (Aaron VanDewark); adopted daughter, Miranda Ovalle (Yassen Sameer Yaseen); granddaughters, Kennedy Elizabeth VanDewark and Emma Lillian VanDewark; sisters, Lillian Mary Mauricio, Olga Allen (James Allen), Anita Allen and Sylvia Rodriguez; and brother, Edward Mauricio (Sandra Mauricio).
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with a visitation at 2:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A reciting of the rosary will take place at 7:00 pm. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 10:00 am in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
