Obituary

Our Uncle Wesley, a devoted husband, brave soldier, and cherished uncle, passed away on January 6, 2024, at the age of 96 in Jourdanton, Texas.

Born on November 6, 1927, to Michael Tymrak and Mary Anna Prda in La Parita, Texas, Uncle Wesley was the tenth of eleven children born into the Tymrak clan. As a farming kid, he worked alongside his brothers and sisters on the farm during his adolescence and attended the La Parita school. Life wasn't easy for his generation, and along with his family, toiled through the Great Depression, the devastation brought by the hailstorm of 1930, and the death of his father in 1934.

Uncle Wesley answered the call to duty and proudly served our country during World War II as a Rifleman in the 745 PFC Infantry, earning both the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan. On August 20, 1957, Uncle Wesley married the love of his life, Mary Agnes Pesek Tymrak (also of La Parita), or as we lovingly call her, "Teta". Together, Uncle Wesley and Teta shared 66 years of marriage, where their love for travel took them to many far away places, including Czechoslovakia to meet and reconnect with distant relatives. Before retirement, Uncle Wesley served 20 years as a produce manager at a grocery store in New Braunfels, Texas. He was also a very involved member with St. Matthew Catholic Church, along with being a member of the KJT and Knights of Columbus.

Uncle Wesley is best remembered by his many nieces and nephews for his sense of humor, his love for family, and the fireworks he always bought for them at the family Christmas parties. Though he and Teta never had any children of their own, he acted as a second grandfather figure for his many great-nieces and nephews, becoming a fixture in their lives, never missing a birthday or family celebration.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Tymrak; a sister, Theresa Kenedy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

We will forever cherish our memories of Uncle Wesley, whose warmth and kindness left a mark on us all. He leaves behind a legacy of tender love and commitment to family, church, and country, and we are forever grateful for the role he played in all of our lives.
