Obituary

It is with heavy hearts yet a spirit of gratitude that we announce the passing of Willard Edward Knight Jr., who peacefully departed this world on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on Wednesday, October 23, 1946, in San Antonio, to Willard Edward Knight Sr. and Rosemary (Falt) Knight, Willard lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Willard was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Knight, and the proud father of his daughters, Sandy Baxter, Charla Smith and husband Wayne, Rose Adams and husband Jim, Nancy Knight; son, Danny Knight; sister, Alice Smith and grandchildren, Jakob, Justin, and Michael Gutierrez. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter, Violet Hazel Pyle, and brother, Paul Anton Knight.

Willard was a man of remarkable strength and resilience, having served his country honorably in the Marines, where he earned the prestigious Purple Heart for his bravery, during the Vietnam War.

His passion for his work was only surpassed by his love for his family and the joy he found in shared moments with friends. He loved to watch western movies and enjoyed the cowboy way of life.

A celebration of life service will be held in his honor, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Hurley Funeral Home from 9:00am until 9:30 am with committal services being held at 10:30 am, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to join in this heartfelt remembrance of a man who touched many lives with his kindness and compassion. As we come together to honor his legacy, we will reflect on the joy he brought to those around him and acknowledge the indelible mark he left on our hearts.

Willard Edward Knight Jr. will be dearly missed but forever celebrated in our memories.
