William Raymond Black, of Poteet, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Jourdanton, on August 6, 1938, to Raymond Elmer Black and Corinne Black, and spent his childhood growing up in San Antonio and Kingsville. After attending Harlandale High School, William pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&I.

He tied the knot with Kathryn Ann Mitchell on June 11, 1960, and ventured into the workforce at City Public Service, later transitioning to a career in civil service at Kelly Air Force Base until he retired in 1994. William finished his career doing contract work for Ventura Manufacturing and Knight Aerospace Products, Inc.

A dedicated member of Somerset Baptist Church, William actively served as Treasurer and Sunday School teacher. He cherished attending the Southern Baptist Convention Founder's Conferences alongside his beloved wife Kathryn.

William is survived by his four children: Janna Houshmand (Jalal), Lisa Chapa (Andrew), Leigh Ann Johnson, and David Black (Crystal); twelve cherished grandchildren, Erin Conaway (Omar), Taylor Conaway (Baruch), Hamaed Houshmand (Gabby), Dannelle Garcia, Christyn Chapa, Mitchell Chapa (Christina), Jori Insalaco (Matthew), Alexis Lopez (Ezra), Alexandria Johnson (Jayton), MaKayla Johnson (Le'Tevin), Malcolm Black, and Jolene Black; his ten adored great-grandchildren, Zaeni Gossett, Maximus Gossett, Lillian Lisenby, Paris Rome, Kaden Rome, Peyton Rome, Aziya Wilcox, Jaxon Wilcox, Eric Chapa, and Olivia Chapa; and his brother, Kenneth Black.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Corinne Black; wife, Kathryn Black; as well as his brothers John and Gerald Black.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2024, at Bexar Cemetery, starting at 10:00 am.
