William Jason Burns
July 10, 1977 - May 12, 2026
William Jason Burns, a devoted son, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 48 on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Born on July 10, 1977 at Mercy Hospital in Jourdanton, Texas, Jason was a man defined by a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a quiet strength. He grew up in Illinois and Texas, leaving a piece of his heart in both places while forming a lifelong, inseparable bond with his sister, Janet. He was an extremely emotional person who felt deeply, wore many caps in life, and loved fiercely. He consistently went out of his way to bring happiness to others and lift up those around him.
For 25 years, Jason poured dedication into his career at Chubb Insurance Company. He was highly respected in his field and held a point of great pride as the only professional certified to perform specialized infrared inspections for the company.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jason's absolute greatest joy was his family. He was a deeply devoted father and grandfather who found his ultimate happiness in the presence of his children, his grandchild, and the beauty of the outdoors—where he could almost always be found wearing one of his favorite caps.
Jason was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Burns; his grandparents, Ruth & Lonnie Burns of Jourdanton, Texas; and Olivia & Clayton Bryan of Charlotte, Texas.
He is survived by his children, Donovan Burns of Illinois, Army Pvt. Emma O'Keefe and her husband Army Sgt. Jason O'Keefe of Georgia, and Ava Burns of Illinois; his precious granddaughter, Ivy Ann Burns of Texas; his parents, Keith and Judy Burns of Texas; his sister, Janet and her children Kylie and her husband Dean, Olivia, and Lane of Texas; along with aunts and uncles, his beloved cousins, and a vast circle of lifelong friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Jason will always be remembered for his warmth, his deep love for his family, and the way he made those around him feel safe and cared for. His presence brought light into every room, and his love—especially for his family—will continue to inspire all who knew him.
