Zenon G. Patlan - April 12, 1932 – October 15, 2023
A lifelong resident of Leming, Texas
Zenon was preceded In death by his parents, Andres Patlan and Isabel Guerrero Patlan; one sister, Julia (infant); his twin brother, Julio (infant); his beloved brother, Domingo Patlan; and his sister-in-law, Blasita Patlan.
He is survived by his nephews, Lupe Patlan and Daniel Patlan; his nieces, Rosalinda Reyes, Terry Fernandez, Rachel Vazquez (Roberto Vazquez), Lucy Patlan (Freddie Deleon), Yolanda Arredondo (Gil Arredondo II), Caroline Patlan, and Christina Patlan; 21 great-nieces and nephews, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
Zenon grew up working with his parents as a migrant worker and for various local farmers in the county. He attended Leming Elementary and was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Las Gallinas, Texas having received his sacraments there. He was also an original member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Leming.
Zenon had a love for gardening and had a very green thumb. He could often be seen by the community with his famous handmade weed whacker or YoYo as he called it, tending to his plants and even tending the neighbor's yards.
Zenon lived a very simple life, he was a skilled handyman, enjoying watching TV, BBQ gatherings with the family, and dancing and being silly with the young ones. His memory was sharp, and he would recount many stories of his youth.
He enjoyed the company of the nurses and staff at Retama Manor South. The nurses would say he was a kind man and that he was their favorite.
Zenon will certainly be missed and remembered.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Leming, starting with a reciting of the rosary at 9:30 am, followed by a celebration of mass at 10:00 am. Services will conclude at the church.
