George Wesley Crocker, born February 22, 1930 in Pleasanton, Texas, son of the late John Wesley Crocker and Katy Mae Daughtrey Crocker, passed away on May 28, 2009 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. George was raised in Pleasanton, Texas and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1947. he attended Texas A & M and was a member of fighting Texas Aggie Band graduating in 1951 with a degree in Geology. George went to work for Baroid in Louisiana after graduation and that started his around the world adventure. George worked for Baroid for 20 years living in Caracas, Venezuela, Houston, Texas and Rome, Italy. In the early 70's he formed a Company in Europe with fellow Aggies, Dan and Dudley Hughes named PerChem. For company operations located in England the company received The Queen of England's award for Technology. He lived in Rome and London, but Texas was always held in his heart. upon returning, he moved back to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1985, then to Hunt, Texas eventually settling in San Antonio. George appreciated his education at Texas A & M and over the years he has generously given back to his alma mater in the form of scholarships to the College of Geoscience, building funds and to the The Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center. He has a pillar named in his honor at the Texas A & M Foundation's Hagler Building. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Louise Crocker and Dorothy Lee Crocker Hinds and a brother-in-law, Bill Benham. George is survived by his sister, Mary Rose Benham of Pleasanton, Texas; brother-in-law, Bob Hindes of Charlotte, Texas; his niece, Melinda Hindes Eustace and husband Joe of Pleasanton; 2 nephews, Bobby Hindes of Charlotte, Texas and Philip Hindes and wife Esparanza of Jourdanton, Texas. George has many friends from around the world who will miss his gift of hospitality.
