John Martin Alaniz, 41, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, in Poteet, Texas.  He was born November 20, 1978, in Poteet, Texas to Juan R. Alaniz and Rita (Gonzales) Alaniz.

John is survived by his wife, Debra Alaniz; parents Juan and Rita Alaniz; sons, John Sebastian Alaniz and Ayden Alaniz; daughter, Saylene Alaniz; sister, Veronica Lambardia and husband Charles; and nephews, Liam, Lukas and Landon Lambardia.

He preceded in death by his grandmother, Maria Elena Gonzales; aunt, Mary Jane Sandoval and grandparents Juan and Manuela Alaniz.

Pallbearers will be Charles Lambardia, Rudy Carrasco, Joe Sanchez, Jack Carrasco, Jeremy Gonzales and Dillon Fernandez.

There will be a visitation for John on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home, located at 118 W. Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton, Texas.  A mass will be on Thursday, September 10, 2020, starting at 10:00 am at St. Philip of Benizi Catholic Church, located at 274 Avenue H, Poteet, Texas, with interment to follow at Madre Dolorosa Cemetery #1.
