Juan Gonzales Hernandez (Johnny) 78 of Pearsall, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, at his home.
Johnny was a devoted husband and father and took great pride in his family. Johnny was born in Pearsall to Selverio Hernandez and Lusia Gonzales Hernandez of Pearsall. He was one of the older cowboys left in his time. He truly loved anything that had to do with roping and very good at it. He loved telling stories of his cowboy life. His stories and his life will live in us for the rest of our lives. We love you Dad.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Maria Hernandez, daughter, Juanita Hernandez, parents, Selverio and Luisa Hernandez, brother, Selverio Hernandez Sr. (Kico), granddaughter, Samantha Jade Morales, and daughter-in-law, Gracie Hernandez.
Johnny is survived by his children, Dora and husband Larry Hanks of Kingwood Tx., Molly and husband Frank Marquez of Brookeland Tx., Johnny Hernandez Jr. of Pearsall, Ann Marie and husband Peter Martinez of San Antonio Tx., Jerry and wife Raquel Hernandez of Pearsall, Melissa and Tommy Pawlik of Camp wood Tx., sister, Dora Leal, brother, Walter and wife Yolanda Hernandez, 18 grandchildren, 28 great children, 1 great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 2:00 PM-9:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow in Pearsall Cemetery.
